<킹덤: 아신전> 'Kingdom: Ashin of the North' Movie Review

A special episode to the ever famous Netflix show Kingdom

Before Squid Games there was Kingdom, Netflix's first K-drama to gain worldwide fame. It instigated the K-zombie syndrome once again and created a trend of Joseon traditional hat, gat(갓). The show is about the mysterious appearance of zombies during the Joseon dynasty. Kingdom: Ashin of the North follows the concept; showing a period before the Joseon dynasty and hints how Kingdom's zombies came to be.

The movie is centered upon Ashin, played by star actress Gianna Jun. Familiar with the forest, Ashin knows of the existence of a mysterious flower that causes the dead to come to life. But the dead don't just wake up like nothing happened; they turn into a monster once they regain life, a zombie. And knowing this, Ashin happens to hold the key to destruction.

Since the focus is entirely on Ashin's life and her road to revenge, without sympathy towards her the movie might feel tedious. But since her life itself is quite interesting, the plot seemed eye-catching and thrilling to me. And any fan of the Kingdom series will definitely be satisfied.

Review: Ruthless revenge and a horde of zombies... mayhem.
