<집으로 가는 길> 'Way Back Home' Movie Review

This Korean film starring Jeon Do-yeon and Go-su is based on a true story. This is a surprising fact, in that the story itself is quite unbelievable and horrifying. And yet, events like this do happen in real life. To prevent such tragedy, reflection and change is needed; many times stimulated by the film culture.

Jeong-yeon is an ordinary housewife. Her family of three is poor, so she decides to take on an unknown small task entrusted by her husband's friend. This small task later turns out to drug smuggling. Jeong-yeon is caught in the airport and imprisoned in Martinique. She just has to prepare some papers to speak of her unknowingness; but things get complicated as the no one takes her situation seriously. She becomes battered and shattered as a helpless prisoner in a remote island far from home.

It is true that Jeong-yeon committed a crime. However, the fact that she couldn't even get a trial due to people's carelessness was enraging. Our society still has a long way to go.

Review: A series of unfortunate events; no way home.
