<베테랑2> 'I, The Executioner' Movie Review

Finally! After a long wait of 9 years, a prequel to the sensational movie Veteran(2015) was released. However, its style completely differed from Veteran, shocking the audience. Though the movie has been a success, there has been controversy over how the prequel should have turned out.

In most crime movies, the villains are surprisingly charming. Even in Veteran, the villain Jo Teo(played by Yoo Ah-In) gained the most attention. To prevent villains from becoming 'too' charming, there must be ways to remind the audience that they are nothing but cruel criminals. The villain of I, The Executioner, Hae-Chi(played by Jung Hae-In), was young and handsome to begin with. To make up for his charm, some kind of prevention was in dire need. However, since the cops catching him were also defective, the audience's hostility was diverted. Also, some scenes were overly brutal; the audience around me were gasping fearfully. These traits arouse uncomfortable distress, which isn't what you expect from watching a movie.

Review: Executioner? What a joke!
