<검은 수녀들> 'Dark Nuns' Movie Review



  A prequel to the famed movie The Priests(2015). Despite its fame, I honestly didn't enjoy The Priests much. Due to this, I had doubts for its prequel, along with negative reviews from the audience. But the movie turned out to be surprisingly better than what I had imagined.

  The plot is simple; to save a boy possessed by an evil spirit, a particular exorcism is needed desperately. However, the priests who have performed the exorcism before are absent. Nun Yunia decides to perform the exorcism herself although she isn't allowed, since exorcisms should be done by priests.

  For this movie, you should see the forest for the trees. Seeing the trees, the details are lacking. Actress Song Hye-Kyo's style of acting doesn't go well with the occult genre; her emotions are too suppressed. However from the forest pov, every scene was the best option possible, with no better alternative. And Song Hye-Kyo's suppressed acting turned out to be rather perfect for her character, giving conviction to the series of choices Yunia makes along the way. Especially at the end.

<시민덕희> 'Citizen of a Kind' Movie Review

  This type of Korean movie is typical, yet strangely rare these days. It depicts Korean's joy and sorrow in a humorous way. Ten years ago, these movies were often screened, gaining immense popularity with little failure. Citizen of a Kind made me reminisce the good old days by evoking familiarity.    Duk-Hee is a common citizen working her busy day to day life. When she is in desperate need of money, she is scammed by voice phishing. In despair she runs to the police, only to find that punishing voice phishing criminals is difficult. The police isn't helpful at all. Then one day she receives a call from the phishing caller himself. He claims that he will help her retrieve money by providing inside information, asking in return for her help.   Everyone will be able to enjoy the movie, meanwhile also feeling sympathy for the characters.   A mystery romance series on Netflix, the show is based on a book of the same title. The chemistry of actors Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-Jin gathered great attention for a long time.
